President’s Welcome

Greetings,

I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve as the 12th President of the Anchorage Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. I am not only honored but humbled to serve in this capacity. I am also proud to be a part of a national organization that has helped to develop future African-American leaders for more than 80 years.

The Anchorage chapter consists of a group of dynamic mothers committed to developing future leaders in our children and the children in our community. We are wholly dedicated to supporting the mission of Jack and Jill, “strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving, and civic duty.”

Our children are at the heart of all that we do as mother members and our dedication to our families drives our commitment to this organization. To serve our organization we will continue to foster partnerships with community organizations. This year we worked in partnership with the NAACP to welcome National President Derrick Johnson to the Freedom Fund Dinner. We individually featured the talents of our Jacks and Jills from 5 to 18 years old in front of a room of more than 250 people! It is difficult to describe the pride I felt while sitting in the audience watching them perform. In 2020 we will partner with the Anchorage Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. Sorority as we visit our Capital in Juneau, Alaska. Our families will learn about the legislative process and visit with our legislators. We will continue to make bonding together in sisterhood a priority in our chapter. Together we will continue to build upon the strong foundation set by our previous leadership, dedicated to fostering a cohesive chapter positioned to leave a legacy for our children, our children’s children and our community.

On behalf of the leadership of the Anchorage Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., I welcome you with open arms and an open heart.

Long live Jack and Jill,

Terria Ware
